Why clinical psychologists?

Clinical psychologists provide a spectrum of specialised services throughout a person’s life, from developmental needs of young persons, help with life’s daily challenges when an adult and to issues related to old age. The journey to mental wellness often requires the assistance of different professionals, from the clinical psychologist who is trained to diagnose and provide appropriate psychotherapeutic interventions to the psychiatrist who can prescribe targeted drug therapies.

Psychological Assessments

Assessments are rigorous, evidence-based, and systematic. They are based on years of development and testing. There are a wide variety of psychological screeners and assessment tools to cover the range of neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions that exist.

In general, screeners are instruments designed to indicate the likelihood of the absence or presence of a condition. Assessment tools, on the other hand, may provide a more definitive diagnosis. It is imperative that a misdiagnosis is avoided as far as possible.
