Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy is an information processing therapy that attends to past emotionally-charged experiences are influencing a client’s present emotions, sensations and thoughts about themselves. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or alternate tapping to achieve break through to the emotional blocks or disturbing memories that keeps clients from living an adaptive emotionally healthy life. EMDR allows the person to let go of the past and update their experiences to a healthier present perspective.
EMDR is efficacious on trauma, significant life events that may result in PTSD and anxiety related conditions.
