Individual therapy

Individual psychotherapy, often called talk therapy, is a personalized, one-on-one process where you work with a trained clinical psychologist to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It’s a safe, confidential space designed to help you understand yourself better, address challenges, and build strategies to live a more fulfilling life.

What to expect

Your first session is a chance to share your story and goals while building trust with your psychologist. From there, sessions focus on exploring your experiences, identifying patterns, and developing tools to manage challenges. Progress is collaborative, and may sometimes be uncomfortable. This is normal considering you are often confronting long avoided or suppressed issues. However, you set the pace, and your psychologist provides guidance and expertise. Over time, you may notice improved emotional resilience, clearer thinking, and a greater sense of empowerment.

In individual psychotherapy, your psychologist listens with care and expertise, guiding you to uncover the root of your difficulties and discover new ways to cope. Sessions typically last 50-60 minutes and are tailored to your unique needs. Your psychologist may use evidence-based approaches, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to shift unhelpful thought patterns.
  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy to foster calm and self-awareness.
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy to process and understand feelings.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma healing.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to foster emotional balance and resilience.

Who can benefit?

Individual psychotherapy is for anyone looking to navigate life’s challenges, including:

  • Anxiety, depression, or stress.
  • Trauma or past experiences.
  • Relationship difficulties.
  • Low self-esteem or identity struggles.
  • Life transitions, such as career changes or loss.
  • Behavioral or emotional concerns, like ADHD or OCD.
  • Emotional dysregulation or difficulty adapting due to ASD.

No matter your age or background, psychotherapy offers a supportive space to heal, grow, and thrive.

Psychological Assessments

Assessments are rigorous, evidence-based, and systematic. They are based on years of development and testing. There are a wide variety of psychological screeners and assessment tools to cover the range of neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions that exist.

In general, screeners are instruments designed to indicate the likelihood of the absence or presence of a condition. Assessment tools, on the other hand, may provide a more definitive

rigorous, evidence-based, and systematic approach to diagnosing disorders.

We provide the following assessments:

School Readiness and Early Years Assessment

Early Examination Board Documentation for Exemptions and Accommodations

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Learning Disorders

Mood Disorders
